Hennala Lieutenant and one floor from Hennala General, managed by Kiinteistö Oy Lahti, are soon transformed into a modern and communal working environment where companies can choose a suitable workspace for themselves. Offered coworking concept and office rooms bring together different businesses from the Lahti region.
“The aim was to increase the attractiveness of the region. The coworking concept matched our vision of how we wanted to develop the Hennala district and we’re are very pleased that we found a suitable partner to realize this vision” says Mika Nopanen, the project manager of Huhtanen Capital.
Coworking and accommodation combined – a brand-new concept worldwide
In addition to the office hotel, the two floors of the Lahti Hennala General will be renovated for accommodation. Fully furnished lodgings by Yövy.fi will offer an accommodation both short and longer-term needs. The lodgings are particularly suitable for the temporary use for entrepreneurs and guests in the area, as well as for tourists.
“Hennala’s old historical ambience, coworking and housing services together offer something very unique to Lahti entrepreneurs. Coworking and accommodation services combined is brand-new concept even worldwide, and Lahti is now a forerunner in Finland”, says Noora Blomqvist, Marketing Manager of Business Center Papula.
The buildings are partially protected, and their original appearance and atmosphere indoors are preserved as they are, bright and spacious. However, the premises will be renovated to meet modern-day office needs.
Over the years, Hennala’s premises have been in various uses. In 1918-1919 the premises acted as a prison camp office, and from the 1920s forward as an accommodation for young, unmarried officers in the sharpshooter’s regiment. In 1987, the premises were introduced as a student dormitory and from 2006 onward they have been used as office facilities.
